Truth be told, when I first heard about this facial I was incredibly skeptical, not least because I have combination skin and usually have to worry about facials that will perhaps make half my face look great and the other half not so much.We already know that olive oil is pretty good for the body; it’s a monosaturated fat exponent that is supposed to do wonders for heart disease prevention and controls LDL, the ‘bad’ cholesterol levels. Considering it’s supposed to be so mild as to do good for the stomach, I considerd I’d give it a shot and use it for my face.

Extra Virgin Oil is the least processed form of olive oil you can buy, and since it’s considered the best quality I decided to go for it right off the bat. I heated up about 5 tablespoons worth of olive oil in the microwave for about 45 seconds so it was warm to the touch but not hot, (didn’t want to risk cooking my face). I’ve heard you can use it as a facewash, (that is, massaging your face with it and washing it off right away), but I decided to treat it more as a facial. You can use your fingers to dab and slather the oil over your face, and by slather I don’t mean dunk the whole item on your face but just enough to cover your face in a light but wide-spread layer. If you’ve got an oily combination, perhaps use even less on the T-Zone, (forehead and nose), but that’s up to you. Massage the contours of your face for a good five minutes and then leave the oil on for about 15 mins untouched. You can either do one of two cleansing methods: wash it off with water afterward, or soak some cotton with a mild facial toner to get the most of the oil out before washing it with water.

I did this every other day for a couple of weeks and it’s worked unbelievably well for me. The oil leaves skin feeling very soft and silky, quite glowy, and helps remove blackheads.I used regular extra virgin oil but I have heard there’s something to castor oil and sunflower oil as well so I guess according to your preference and what’s best for you!
