Dieting failures and slip-ups: therein lies the ticket to permanent weight loss.
We all strive to be the best we can be. Some of us (especially women) strive for perfection. But that’s not where the true answer to success lies. No one on earth can be perfect, and that’s a fact. However, our very lack of perfect-ness—in other words, our making mistakes—is what gets us to achieve our goals…that is, if we use it to our advantage.
When you cheat and go off your diet, it’s probably the best learning experience you can have. If you think about it, when you do achieve your goal weight, you then give up your particular weight-loss eating plan, right? You don’t need it any more, because you don’t need to lose any more weight. So, what then do you call being perfect? What is your guideline?
We would like to suggest that here is where you will benefit most from all those little cheats and off–the-diet eating you did along the way. It is how you learned to GET BACK ON that is key. So when you begin to eat more normally and more freely after a weight loss, you will hopefully be able to eat more at times, less at times, and it will balance itself out. If you didn’t learn how to regain your eating composure after a cheat during the active weight-loss phase itself, then most likely if you eat too much sometime at your goal weight, you will not know how to then curtail it. That is dangerous, because it can lead to gaining the weight back. That is exactly what you do not want.
Look upon mistakes as your free course in how to succeed at losing the weight and keeping it off. Mistakes are your golden opportunity.
