You may not think so, but successful weight loss is mostly a mental process. You can diet, yes, and that can help. But the winning formula is not usually Dieting=Weight Loss. If it were, the statistics on successful dieting would be much more positive than they are. It’s not that diets don’t work. It’s a case of figuring out why diets have not worked for you, at least in the long term. So, this time, why not try to solve the following equation:

X=Weight-Loss success for me

What is X?

If diets have not led you to permanent weight-loss success, try and use this new slant to come up with the mental aspects that come into play when you diet. Think of all the non-food issues that have hindered your weight-loss attempts in the past. Once you can face the mental processes that go on when you try to diet, you will have a much more powerful equation:

Facing What I need to Face Mentally = Weight-Loss success for me.
