  • Never wear lines across, they widen the body, lines down streamline and reduce the look of a figure. Also wear buttons that go straight down the front of your body as it is slimming.
  • Wear long, maxi dresses with high-heels. They are loose on the body but lengthens the body too so it will look like you have long legs
  • Never wear light colours on the bottom of your body. Always dark on the bottom lighter on the top, its a rule.
  • If you are blessed in the pictorial department but have hips and stomach you want to hide, don’t go for a dress that pinches in at the waist, always go for something that is gathered under the bust, in the style of Jane Austen. it will skim over your unwanted bumps and curves whilst centering attention onto your generous cleavage.
  • Whoever heard a story that waist belts were good for women who already have existing hips- they are not. Waist Belts are brilliant for giving curves to women that don’t have them, like very skinny girls or women who have naturally straight bodies. But if you have already have quite noticeable hips, wearing a thick waist belt is only going to make them stick out even more. Opt instead for a dress that is hard in its material, like taffeta or a structured tweed dress, then if will smooth any bumps in your body. We are aiming for a dress which has the effect of a corset but through out the dress- body controlling.
  • Tights stop legs from wobbling, make them appear firmer and suck in the stomache
  • Soft, large cardigans, take attention away from the arms and when draped on each side of your hips it has the effect of covering the hips and slimming your frame.
  • If you do want to wear a waist belt do not wear it on an already tight, structured dress. instead wear a very, very baggy satin dress underneath
  • Wear peonies and baby doll tops- these tops that are tight around the breasts- again in that Jane Astyle and then very baggy around the stomach to disguise any bulge.
  • The best trousers are m & s loose flared suit trousers, high-waisted. They are soft, they give and they move, they lengthen, they can be worn with heels to subtly lengthen the legs and they don't cling around any flab
  • Pencil skirts just seem to work. The 40s generation knew what they were talking about. It seems no matter how much weight I put on, a pencil skirt with a long sleeved shirt always seems to give the female body a fabulous 8 shape.
