It’s Christmas, the UK is decorated in flurries of snow, and all that seems possible is staying inside with a good bout of BBC drama and lots of hot, therapy food. There are many ways that you can exercise and stay fit whilst having fun with your family this Christmas.

.) Get creative in the Snow. A lot of us have a fear of going anywhere near snow. However, as long as you wrap up with protective gloves, it can be quite theraputic and really good exercise as you sweat through all the layers of clothes. If you indulge your Christmas nostalgia and make some artistic snowmen it is a good way to spend time with the kids.

.) Take a walk and window shop. Find a village or city and walk the circumference of it on a Thursday night late shopping. Don’t park the car right by the door, actually give yourself a challenge to get to the shops, wear a rucksack to carry heavy things, sports gear, and let yourself feel the exercise of running backwards and forwards up the carpark stairs to the car to put gifts in the boot.

.) Take a winter trek to the pub. Winter walks and walking in general can feel a bit defeatist when there is pinnacle to walk towards. So my advice is to find a really cute pub in an area and decide you are going to walk to it. Drive the car to somewhere that has a vast common or fields. Your reward can be a hot drink at the bar. In the winter, just taking a walk outdoors is going to burn more calories than any other time because your body is going to walk  harder in an attempt to stay warm. You may be going to take the trash to the curb or going for a fitness walk, but either way, your body is going to work for warmth. You will probably also be wearing more clothing than usual, so there will be an extra few pounds for your muscles to contend with.

.) Iceskating nights. If there are nights in the evening with the kids, either in London ice-rinks, or at local leisure centre: go, it burns lots of calories.

.) Walk from home to the local coffee shop to meet a friend for coffee. The walking will do you good, the coffee is the reward.

.) Play with your children

.) Do a dinner dance

.) Walk around at night looking at the neighbours Christmas lights

.) Play tray sleding with kitchen sleighs
