Milk has been at the forefront of some heated debates over the past several years, between health and fitness experts. On one side of the spectrum you have Team Milk, which insists that drinking milk is the best way to consume calcium, build your bones and build stronger teeth. Whereas Team Soy milk scolds all the dairy milk lovers for drinking cow’s milk which contains natural and synthetic hormones. And let’s not forget Team Rice Milk, Team Hemp Milk, and Team No Milk. Each of these types of milk has its advantages and disadvantages.
However I would like open your eyes to a type of milk that has been heavily publicised. Almond milk, as the name suggests, is derived from the milk of almonds. It has a light, fresh taste somewhat similar to that of cow’s milk. Almond milk is a healthy and nutritious alternative to cow’s milk. It is estimated that over 70% of people have some type of lactose intolerance. Yet almond milk is an extract of protein-rich almonds and loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It is the perfect addition to any milkshake.

I have been drinking almond milk for the past 3 years. I will never go back to drinking regular milk. Cow’s milk does not digest well in my stomach. Almond milk is the perfect solution for my “milk fix”. As an added bonus, almond milk does not have to be refrigerated. So you can stock up on the almond milk and leave it sitting on the kitchen counter. This post is not meant to convert you to Team Almond Milk, but hopefully you will give it a try. For those who are lactose intolerant (this is near 70%) this is the perfect alternative. I use it in my morning blender drinks, pour it over my oatmeal, or sometimes drink a glass in the morning. Give it a shot. I think you will be pleasantly surprised and might even convert over to Team Almond Milk. Don’t worry; you don’t have to wear a t-shirt claiming what type of milk drinker you are!
